Cookies Policy

Effective Date: May 1, 2026 · Last Updated: May 11, 2026

1. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners. Faro uses cookies and similar tracking technologies to operate the Platform and improve your experience.

2. Types of Cookies We Use

Strictly Necessary

These cookies are essential for the Platform to function. They cannot be disabled. They include the session authentication cookie (faro_session) which is an HTTP-only, Secure, SameSite=None JWT cookie with a 7-day expiry. This cookie is required to maintain your authenticated session across requests.

Analytics

We use Umami Analytics, a privacy-friendly, cookie-less analytics tool, to understand how visitors interact with the early access registration page. Umami does not use cookies and does not collect personally identifiable information. It tracks page views, unique visitors, and referral sources using an anonymized fingerprint. No data is shared with advertising networks.

Functional

These cookies remember your preferences and settings to improve your experience. Examples include theme preferences (light/dark mode) and language settings. These cookies do not track your activity across other websites.

Third-Party Authentication

When you log in via Google OAuth (Firebase Authentication), Google may set its own cookies as part of the authentication flow. These cookies are governed by Google's Privacy Policy. We do not control these cookies.

3. Session Cookie Details

The primary cookie used by the Platform is the session authentication cookie. Its technical specifications are:

AttributeValue
Namefaro_session
TypeHTTP-only, Secure
AlgorithmHS256 JWT
Expiry7 days from last activity
SameSiteNone (required for cross-origin OAuth)
Path/
PurposeMaintains authenticated session
ContainsUser ID, organization ID, role, expiry timestamp

4. Local Storage and Session Storage

In addition to cookies, the Platform uses browser Local Storage to persist user interface preferences (such as sidebar state and panel sizes) and Session Storage for temporary state during task execution. This data is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to our servers.

Local Storage data persists until you clear your browser data. Session Storage data is cleared when you close the browser tab.

5. Redis-Based Session Management

The Platform uses Redis for server-side session management, rate limiting, and real-time data streaming (screenshot frames at 150ms intervals during agent execution). Redis data is ephemeral and is not considered a cookie; it is a server-side mechanism. Redis session data expires according to the TTL set at creation and is not accessible to users or third parties.

6. How to Control Cookies

You can control and manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

  • View and delete existing cookies
  • Block all cookies or cookies from specific sites
  • Set preferences for specific types of cookies
  • Receive a notification when a cookie is set

Please note that disabling strictly necessary cookies (specifically the session cookie) will prevent you from logging in to the Platform. Disabling functional cookies may affect your experience but will not prevent basic use of the registration page.

Browser-specific instructions for managing cookies:

7. Browser Compatibility Note

The Platform's session cookie uses SameSite=None; Secure to support cross-origin OAuth flows. This setting is required for the authentication flow to work correctly. The following browser configurations may prevent login:

  • Safari Private Browsing (blocks cross-site cookies by default)
  • Firefox with Strict Enhanced Tracking Protection enabled
  • Brave with Aggressive Shields enabled
  • Any browser with third-party cookie blocking enabled

If you experience login issues, try using Chrome or Firefox in standard (non-private) mode.

8. Do Not Track

Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" (DNT) feature that signals to websites that you do not want to be tracked. Because there is no consistent industry standard for DNT, the Platform does not currently respond to DNT signals. Our analytics provider (Umami) does not track users across sites regardless of DNT settings.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Cookies Policy to reflect changes in technology, regulation, or our practices. Material changes will be communicated via email to registered users. The "Last Updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
